Kristen Varchetto, Riding Instructor + Working Student Supervisor

Kristen began riding with Dunham Woods in 1997 through the Bartlett Park District Horsemanship Program. Kristen worked her way up learning everything about horse care and instruction inside and out and soon became an instructor herself in 2003. Since then she continues to learn all she can about the industry. Kristen has showed locally at USEF “A” and “C” rated shows and was in the ribbons every time. She enjoys trail riding and taking new horses out to relax and recharge in the forest preserve. Kristen says “I love teaching. The best is when you see a student have that ‘A-HA!’ moment. It’s extremely rewarding when a student smiles after tackling a major hurdle.”

Laura Bernardoni, Riding Instructor

Laura began her riding career at the age of 7, specializing in the hunter/jumper discipline. At age 15 she chose to expand her knowledge over to the realm of eventing. She has competed through the Preliminary level of eventing and is preparing for intermediates. She spent 2 months in South Carolina under the tutelage of Jennifer Doherty, a heavy hitter in the eventing world. Laura has been teaching for over 6 years, working with walk/trot to advanced jumping level riders. Laura brings a unique perspective to the DWF team and is laser focused on being the best equestrian she can. Laura’s favorite part of teaching is seeing riders create a valuable bond with their horses through trust and determination. Her words to live by: “Take a deep breath, eyes forward, shoulders waiting and leg on- keep it fun!”
